About the Artist

I’ve always harbored a quiet, persistent urge to defy gravity and gently rise, drifting weightless until I float right into the wide, open sky.

It probably started when I was a kid watching The Boy Who Could Fly. I must’ve watched that movie a hundred times, totally captivated by the idea if that if you just believed it enough you could lift off the ground. Even now, I still get those vivid dreams where I’m floating over everything and waking up from them always leaves me with this strange lingering ache to be off the ground.

Maybe that is why I love birds so much. Every time I watch them take off part of me is deeply jealous.

I also love watching their behaviour. Far from being simple creatures, they are razor sharp problem solvers, tool users and masters of their environments. They are a perfect blend of ancient history, incredible intelligence and the pure breathtaking freedom we can only ever dream of.

I’ve always believed that the best connections happen when you slow down and pay attention. For six months this year, my front yard became a front-row seat to the daily life of a Torresian Crow family of four. I spent half a year watching the juveniles learn the ropes, open peanuts and hide and find cache in the garden. I won’t pretend that I didn’t get attached. I was completely heartbroken when the day finally came for them to make their own way in the world. But the bond was real, and they made sure to leave me with a few unforgettable gifts - including some genuine, homemade cane toad leather (or toad jerky). It turns out, building trust with locals takes time, patience and a high tolerance for weird presents. I still have it in a jar.

Painting directly onto feathers celebrates my lifelong obsession with flight - turning the very instrument of a bird’s freedom into my canvas.

Thank you for visiting. Having an independent space allows me to share what I love on my own terms, free from the noise and distraction of big platforms. Take your time, look around and enjoy the birds.
